Citizens of Heaven

 In the book of Revelation we read:

 “And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.” Revelation 12:15,16

     This prophetic passage foretells the time when a new nation would grow up in the fertile soil of the new world. This nation which was built on the principles of religious freedom would provide God’s people a place where they could be free from tyranny but even more importantly a place where religious worshippers could exercise their faith according to the dictates of their conscience.

     As citizens and inhabitants of the United States we have been granted great freedoms of expression and religious liberty that are a fulfillment of this prophetic passage. But we also know that the window of opportunity will not last forever. Revelation continues saying: “And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. Revelation 13:11,12


Very soon the legislative powers will speak against the principles of the constitution through laws that will conjure up the former oppression of God’s people. 

     With this sobering thought in mind let’s press forward today with the work that God has given us. Let’s share with those in our circles and in our communities the good news about Jesus and His soon return. Very soon Jesus will return with all the hosts of heaven to take us to a better land. Very soon you and I will enter the shining city on a hill and sing hallelujah to our God. And in that place free from tyranny we will be able to worship our Lord and Savior forever. Will you be part of

that wonderful throng of the redeemed? Will your citizenship be in the New Jerusalem? 

     The census is being taken today for every soul that believes in Jesus. There is more than enough room for everyone. The Bible calls this enormous group of the redeemed the great multitude, a vast throng of people from every age and culture. You and I can be a part of that wonderful citizenry of heaven. All we have to do is believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior.

Not “If" But “When”

Today I would like to look at an interesting study on Deuteronomy 4:29. Let’s begin with the text which reads: But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29 NKJV There is an “If” in this passage that gives me pause. It seems to imply that the search for God is primarily initiated by our own desires. Who is Melchizedek?

Melchizedek is a mysterious figure in the Bible. He appears abruptly with great importance and yet his identity seems unclear. Let's see what we can discover. In Hebrews 7:1-3 it says: 1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,  2 to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated “king of righteousness,” and then also king of Salem, meaning “king of peace,”  3 without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually. The Phantom Life

I've never really thought of myself as an apparition. But sometimes and sadly more often than it should ever be the case this is all that I am. David declares "Surely every man awalks about as a phantom." Psalm 39:6 How can he make such a bold pronouncement and does this really apply to me? The word that David uses here for phantom is the Hebrew word tselem . In this context it means phantom, but this is not the first place that this word is used. In Genesis 1:26 we find the first occurrence of this word when God says "Let Us make man in our " image ." We were made to look like God, think like God and act like Him. We were made in His image.
